About Dr. Ali
Dr. Ali received his medical degree from The University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi in 1985. He then completed his Internal Medicine internship at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and Emergency Medicine Residency training at Eglin AFB Regional Hospital, Eglin AFB, Florida in 1987. Dr. Ali furthered his medical training by completing an OB/GYN residency at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi in 1992. He served as Chief of OB/GYN Services 5th Medical Group, Minot AFB, North Dakota, from 1992 to 1994. He returned to Mississippi in 1994 where he started his private practice, OB/GYN Associates of Laurel until 2005. Dr. Ali furthered his education by receiving his law degree from Concord Law School in 2005.
Dr. Ali joined Family Health Center of Laurel in August 2006 as Chief Executive Officer. Since his arrival, Family Health Center has continuously expanded from 2 sites to currently 8 sites. Under Dr. Ali’s leadership, Family Health Center has achieved a number of National Quality Leader Awards including 7 of the 9 Quality Badges offered by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
Dr. Ali has over 35 years’ experience as an OB/GYN physician and is a highly regarded Robotic Surgeon. He has pioneered diagnostic treatments and applications for women with high risk pregnancies and reproductive complications, including the Strong Start Program managed by the Community Health Center Association of Mississippi (CHCAMS). A recent UDS report demonstrated the effectiveness of the Strong Start Program at Family Health Center, Inc. where a 30% reduction in low birth weight babies was noted since its inception. He is a nationally recognized expert in the operation and management of public health facilities, as well as, an expert witness on numerous legal cases involving medical malpractice.
He has served on a number of committees and held significant offices within the medical community including the most recent office of President of the Board of Directors of the Community Health Center Association of Mississippi (CHCAMS) in 2016 and 2020. He has also received numerous commendations and awards for his services.
Dr. Ali’s concerns and interests in healthcare have expanded beyond the borders of South-Central Mississippi and now include the entire State of Mississippi and the United States and abroad.
